On 7th November 2008 New Zealanders Michelle and Helen will depart Heathrow for the challenge of a lifetime, trekking from Kathmandu, Nepal to the Base Camp of Mount Everest.

Now why would two sensible Kiwi girls even consider a journey which includes trekking for 16 days, camping in -20 degrees, the inevitable altitude sickness, lack of loo paper and scarce commodities of wine and vegemite you ask?

Madness was not an option; the real reason behind the trek is to show their commitment and support for Breast Cancer Campaign, A charity close to their hearts, as no woman will go through life without being affected by or knowing someone affected by breast cancer. A cause even closer to the girls considering one of their mothers is currently fighting the disease.

The key to Breast Cancer Campaign being the chosen charity is its focus on ‘researching the cure’. What better way of supporting the cause than following in Sir Edmund Hillary’s footsteps, the New Zealand Mountaineer who was the first person to conquer the Summit of Mt Everest, proving two girls can go ‘without’ in aid of a good cause
